Pride Mountain.

The iconic Spring Mountain estate whose wines almost never reach retail. These are the last remaining allocations in our cellar.

For 17 years, we have chased the rugged, high-altitude vineyards of Pride Mountain. For nearly two decades we have mostly been told "no" — or, on rare occasion, allocated a single case.

We're pleased to offer you our rare and tiny allocation of Pride Mountain Vineyards — an iconic winery whose micro-production is normally reserved for their faithful mailing list, not retailers.

The Mailing-List Monopoly

Normally, you'd wait years just to join the Pride mailing list.

Today, you skip the line — straight to the last remaining bottles in our cellar.

The Estate

Founded 1989. First wine 1991.
The winemaker who put Spring Mountain on the map.

In 1991, the talents of founding winemaker Robert "Bob" Foley — the man who went on to make wine at Paloma, Switchback Ridge, Hourglass, and School House — taught the world to love and respect Spring Mountain and brawny mountain fruit as a category.

Jim and Carolyn Pride purchased the property in 1989, not far from other high-elevation icons like Smith-Madrone and Spring Mountain Vineyards. Climbing to 2,100 feet above the valley floor, the Pride Mountain estate remains one of the most breathtaking properties in the country.

Their wines have proven to age beautifully and effortlessly for 20 years and probably longer. Every one of the decades we've tasted has blown us away.

Generous would be an understatement in describing this fruit. Blackberries dominate before unfurling into black cherry and ripe plum, accented by bay, chocolate, and sage. Considerable tension from balanced acidity and supple tannin structure — stunning now, and will impress for years.

Critic Reviews

94 — James Suckling: "Lush aromas of Damson plums, blackcurrants and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of mocha, blueberry bush, graphite and licorice. Well balanced and textural."

91 — Vinous (Galloni): "The 2022 Merlot is packed with blackberry jam, chocolate, licorice, espresso, menthol, and tobacco. This full-bodied, potent Merlot packs a huge punch."

91 — Jeb Dunnuck: "Spicy, herbal, black cherry, and leather-like notes emerge. A medium-bodied, juicy, plump, incredibly satisfying, and delicious Merlot. Will still be drinking beautifully in a decade."

90 — Wine Advocate: "Red and black cherries lead the way on the nose, joined by hints of coffee and chocolate. In the mouth, this is full-bodied, plush and velvety yet retains decent acidity and reveals ample length on the finish."

Brimming with blackberry and crème de cassis. As it settles, sage, tobacco leaf, and cedar come into play. Delicate hints of violet unfold as it uncoils. Its lively, pretty nature joins seamlessly with underlying power and elegance to make a wine that will age gracefully over the next 20 years.

Critic Reviews

95 — James Suckling: "Classic aromas of blackcurrants, dark cherries, cedar and graphite. The palate is full-bodied with fine tannins and integrated acidity, giving notes of Damson plums, licorice and boysenberries. Well balanced and refined."

93 — Decanter: "The alluring nose offers fragrances of cassis, red currants, mint and sage. Soft, supple tannins frame this medium-bodied red, while a solid core of crunchy acidity grips the palate, resolving through notes of cocoa powder and bright cedarwood as the tannins build to a crescendo. Well worth cellaring."

92 — Wine Advocate: "Scents of dried herbs, black olives and black cherries on the nose, while the medium- to full-bodied palate is plush and velvety. The mountain tannins are nicely managed, present but ripe and soft."

91 — Vinous (Galloni): "A very pretty wine. Aromatic, savory and light on its feet. Crushed rose petal, sage, mint and blood orange lend notable lift and brightness throughout."

Mineral and focused. First calls to mind river stones drying in the sun. Tension unfurls to release fresh nectarine punctuated by lime zest and a hint of bergamot — grapefruit brûlée; fresh fruit with the slightest kiss of toasted sweetness.

2024 Critic Reviews

94 — Decanter: "A beautifully bright, crisp, sea-spray-driven wine, showing rich lemon and lime character alongside crisp, crunchy orchard fruit. White flowers add sumptuous lift, and the palate reveals impressive depth of flavour. Tension-driven and full of energy."

91 — Vinous (Galloni): "The 2024 Chardonnay is terrific. Bright, lithe and nuanced. Lemon peel, crushed rocks, mint, slate and white pepper are very nicely delineated throughout."

Bonus: 2023 Chardonnay in Half-Bottles

We also have 10 half-bottles of the 2023 vintage — scored JS 95 / WA 92 / VM 91. Suckling: "Precise aromas of lemon curd, flint, pastry and white flowers… a nice balance between power and finesse."

Overflowing with aromas of white lilac and Spanish lime, the 2025 is everything we hope to achieve in Pride Viognier. Exotic white flower and stone fruit are subtly accented by lychee, grapefruit pith, and lime blossom. Bright and lively on the palate, balancing floral and apricot with subtle texture through a surprisingly long finish. Only 1,804 cases produced.

The 2024 Vintage's Full Critic Reviews

(The prior vintage — the 2025 will be reviewed next season.)

96 — James Suckling: "This excellent wine shows great varietal expression with a lovely perfume. Aromas of apricots, lemon confit, rose petals and jasmine. The palate is silky and textural with a waxy feel, cut through with finely balanced acidity and a slight phenolic grip, bringing more dimension to the tactile finish. This is a fine viognier."

95 — Decanter: "Owner Steve Pride, who was married in Beaune, has a sentimental connection to this Viognier. The Viognier has been moved around the property in search of its ideal site, yet wherever it's planted, it remains one of California's most delicious and complex examples. Wonderfully aromatic, it shows beeswax, honeycomb, and white flowers, followed by rich stone-fruit flavours and a luscious texture. Greater acid brightness this year, layered with perfumed beauty and a saline edge on the finish. Totally captivating."

93 — Vinous (Galloni): "The 2024 Viognier is another gorgeous white from Pride. Varietal notes are front and center. Apricot, ginger, mint, white flowers and lime are all beautifully delineated in the glass. Soft, creamy contours wrap it all together. This stylish Viognier is so attractive."
