Dana Estates: The Legacy of Hi Sang Lee
on Howell Mountain & Pritchard Hill.
Dana Estates was founded by Hi Sang Lee, a Korean-American technology entrepreneur who acquired exceptional vineyard sites on Howell Mountain and Pritchard Hill — two of Napa's most elevated and prized mountain appellations. Lee named the estate "Dana," a Sanskrit word meaning "the spirit of generosity," and committed to producing wines without compromise. Every vineyard is farmed with meticulous precision. Every wine is made in quantities so small that the global market sees almost none of it.
The results speak through the scores: 99 from Wine Advocate, 99 from James Suckling, 99 from Jeb Dunnuck — often on the same wine. The Hershey, Lotus, Helms, and Montagna single-vineyard Cabernets are among the most lauded produced anywhere in the world. At auction, Dana bottles trade at premiums that rival the most famous Napa names. And yet they remain almost impossible to acquire — produced for the mailing list and nowhere else.
