A Personal Note
Dear Artisans,
Vietti sits at the top of the village of Castiglione Falletto, in the heart of the Langhe hills. Carlo Vietti founded the cellar in the late 1800s, and in 2022 Antonio Galloni named it Vinous Winery of the Year.
But the part of the story that gets missed is the whites. In the 1960s Luciana Vietti married winemaker Alfredo Currado, who bottled one of the first Barolo crus, Rocche di Castiglione, in 1961, and then, in 1967, a single-varietal Arneis. Vietti is largely responsible for the resurrection of the Arneis grape.
Today the whites come in new vintages, with new ratings: the 2024 Timorasso and the 2025 Arneis.
The Serious White
Timorasso is the ancient white of the Colli Tortonesi. Jeb Dunnuck’s team finds the 2024 lands “somewhere between Chablis and Riesling,” and after two or three years in bottle it picks up the typical hint of hydrocarbon that Riesling lovers chase. Vinous and Falstaff both gave the 2024 93 points.
The Bottle That Saved The Grape
The 2025 Arneis comes from 30-year-old vines in Santo Stefano Roero, fermented cold in stainless steel to keep some of its natural CO2, with no malolactic to keep it fresh. Treve Ring: “Very fresh, well suited to summer salads and shellfish.”
Every Vietti Red In Our Cellar
Below the whites is every Vietti red we have, from the La Crena Barbera to the Barolo crus and a 5-liter Castiglione, with the number of bottles left beside each one.

The Bottom Line
One house, every corner of Piedmont. From $29.97 to $899.99.
The 2024 Timorasso at $39.97 (Vinous and Falstaff 93) and the 2025 Arneis at $29.97 (Gismondi 91) for tonight. The La Crena Barbera for the everyday table. And a Barolo cru for the shelf that gets opened next decade.
The counts above are everything we have. When a cru is gone, it is gone.
Cheers,
— James Tran
