Dear Artisans,
Today we're offering up the very last few bottles of an extraordinary Cab from none other than Heidi Peterson Barrett — the 2021 Paradigm Estate Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon. This is one of her final wines. Heidi retired from Paradigm with the 2024 vintage, after a remarkable 35-year run as their winemaker beginning with the inaugural 1991 release.
Fortunately, her vision and style will be maintained: Cellar Master Pedro Martinez (35 years at the estate) stays in place, and Mark Fasi — who has been managing Paradigm's day-to-day winemaking operations for 15 years — has been promoted to winemaker. Continuity is intact. But the bottles signed by Heidi herself? Those are now a finite resource.

2021 · The Vintage
Napa's greatest vintage in a generation.
After the devastating 2020 season — when wildfires forced many producers to forgo red wine entirely — 2021 arrived as an answer to prayer. Cool nights, steady sunshine, no heat spikes, and historic drought conditions produced small, intensely concentrated berries that critics now call a once-in-a-generation event.
James Suckling calls 2021 an "apex vintage" and a "redemption year" — urging collectors to commit now because of the small quantity available. Jeb Dunnuck declared it "truly exceptional." Vinous found the wines "aromatic, refined and wonderfully expressive."
The Napa Valley Vintners' one-line summary: "The joy is back."

P.S. There are only six bottles of this one. With Heidi's retirement, the bottles she personally signed are now a closed set — what is in the market today is what will ever exist. Paradigm under Mark Fasi will still be excellent (the cellar master, the vineyard work, and the philosophy are unchanged), but no future release will carry Heidi's hand on it.
