Dear Artisans,
There are Chardonnays people drink. And then there are Chardonnays people obsess over. Why?
Rombauer. Lloyd. Frank Family.
These aren’t just 'Chards'. They are the three names that rewrote the rules of California Chardonnay—and they share a remarkable winemaking bloodline. For the first time, all three legends are available in a single 12-bottle collection at a price that makes restaurant sommeliers weep.

The Connection
One Winemaking Family Tree. Three Iconic Labels.
Here is a story most wine lovers don’t know: the winemaker behind Lloyd Cellars is Rob Lloyd—the man who served as Head Winemaker at Rombauer Vineyards from 2006 to 2008. Under his stewardship, Rombauer earned a coveted spot on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 Wines in the World. He then departed to build his own label—and his 2023 vintage has now earned 94 points from Tasting Panel Magazine, surpassing the very wines that made him famous.
The connection runs deeper still: Rich Frank, the legendary former President of Disney Studios—the executive behind The Lion King, Pretty Woman, and Aladdin—was so inspired after tasting a glass of Rombauer Chardonnay at Napa’s famed Tra Vigne restaurant that he sought out Koerner Rombauer himself. That meeting sparked Frank Family Vineyards—now twice named “Winery of the Year” by Connoisseurs’ Guide.
These three producers don’t just share a region. They share a bloodline of winemaking excellence.

Heritage
Founded in 1980 by Koerner Rombauer—whose great-aunt, Irma Rombauer, authored The Joy of Cooking, the most iconic American cookbook ever published. The winery’s motto, “The Joy of Wine,” carries that same spirit of generous hospitality. First Carneros Chardonnay produced in 1990. Over 200,000 cases produced annually. Recognized by The Drinks Business as America’s #1 best-selling luxury Chardonnay.
Tasting Profile
Golden yellow in the glass. Fragrant aromas of ripe yellow peach, melon, and chamomile, framed by freshly baked pie crust. The palate delivers Rombauer’s signature creamy texture—achieved through full malolactic fermentation and meticulous lees stirring every 7–10 days—with waves of mango, guava, vanilla, and a buttery mid-palate that carries into a long, acidity-driven finish. Aged 9 months in American and French oak (37% new).
Cellaring
Drink now through 2028. Best enjoyed within 2–4 years to preserve its vibrant fruit and creamy texture.

Heritage
Winemaker Rob Lloyd earned his Master’s in Enology from UC Davis, then trained at La Crema before rising to Head Winemaker at Rombauer Vineyards. Under his watch, Rombauer earned Wine Spectator’s Top 100 (2007). He then founded Lloyd Cellars with his wife Bonnie—built on one premise: take everything he learned at Rombauer and push it further. Sourced 100% from the legendary Sangiacomo Vineyards, one of California’s most respected grower families, farming Carneros since the 1920s. Wine writer Michael Kelly called the 2023 vintage a wine that “has elevated itself from a good Chardonnay to a great one.”
Tasting Profile
Barrel-fermented and aged 10 months in American oak, left on the lees until bottling. The nose explodes with honey crisp apple, pineapple, pear, and toasted oak. The palate delivers an opulent experience—Irish butter texture, mango, honeydew melon, golden apple, and toasted coconut—with a finish that lingers with exotic hints of caramel and baking spice. Full-bodied with medium-plus acidity for superb balance.
Cellaring
Drink now through 2027. Its bold fruit and American oak profile is at peak expression now.

Heritage
Founded in 1992 by Rich Frank—former President of Walt Disney Studios and former President of Paramount Television Group. The man behind The Lion King, Aladdin, Pretty Woman, Cheers, Golden Girls, and Entertainment Tonight. His wife Leslie Frank is an Emmy Award–winning broadcast journalist. The winery occupies the historic 1884 Larkmead site—the third-oldest winery building in Napa Valley, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Named “Best Napa Winery” by Bay Area A-List for eight consecutive years. Twice named “Winery of the Year” by Connoisseurs’ Guide. Over 380 acres of estate vineyards.
Tasting Profile
Leads with zesty lemon and guava aromas tempered by notes of vanilla and caramel-covered apples. The palate reveals delicious layers of nutmeg and crème brûlée seamlessly woven with toasted oak and elegant waves of fresh acidity, leading to a bright, lingering finish. James Suckling called it “well made, poised, and stylish.” The ultimate food wine—enough richness to stand alone, enough acidity to complement any dish on the table.
Cellaring
Drink now through 2029. Its bright acidity gives it the longest aging window of the three—can develop additional complexity over 3–5 years.

The Insider Math
Better Than Any Restaurant in the Bay Area
At Bottega in Yountville, Ristorante Allegria in Napa, or any high-end Bay Area establishment, these wines appear on wine lists at $95–$125+ per bottle—the standard 2.5–3× restaurant markup.
Even if you bring your own bottle and pay a typical Bay Area corkage fee of $25–$50, you’d still spend $62.50–$87.50 per bottle.
With the SIP Pack, you pay $37.50 per bottle. Over 12 bottles, you’re saving $690 to $1,050 compared to restaurant pricing.
This isn’t a deal. This is an act of self-defense against restaurant markups.

The Artisan Pairing Guide
Every Occasion, Perfectly Paired
🎦 Cheese Pairings
Triple-Cream Brie or Brillat-Savarin — The buttery richness mirrors the creamy oak and vanilla of all three wines.
Aged Gruyère — Nutty, caramelized sweetness amplifies the toasted oak, especially in the Lloyd.
Fresh Burrata with Heirloom Tomatoes — The Frank Family’s acidity cuts through the cream beautifully.
Comté or Manchego — Semi-hard cheeses with nuttiness bring out the Rombauer’s honeyed notes.
🌱 Vegan Pairings
Roasted Corn & Chili Guacamole Toast — Charred sweetness mirrors the toasted oak; avocado complements the rich body.
Cashew-Cream Fettuccine with Roasted Cauliflower — The weight of the sauce matches these wines’ full body.
🍴 Classic Pairings
Lobster or Dungeness Crab with Drawn Butter — The gold standard. These wines serve as liquid butter that elevates the shellfish.
Pan-Seared Sea Bass with Lemon-Cream Sauce — The Frank Family’s vibrant acidity refreshes the palate between bites.
Roasted Chicken with Herbs de Provence — Rombauer’s creamy mid-palate was designed for roasted poultry.
Scallops in Brown Butter — The Lloyd’s 94-point opulence mirrors perfectly seared scallops.
Pasta Carbonara — Egg-and-cheese richness finds its soulmate in any of these three.
