Greywacke is a recent project from Kevin Judd. Kevin was one of the founders and winemakers behind the legendary Cloudy Bay. There isn't much Judd doesn't know about making Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Greywacke routinely garners critical acclaim, punches above its price level, and is naturally a big seller.

A delightful fusion of ripe summer fruit and delicate floral perfume – Golden Queen peaches and poached yellow pears; baked apples, mango and rock melon; mingled with apple blossom fragrance and a twist of lemon sherbet. Succulent and crisp, with a delicate fennel-like herbal quality and a dry, textural palate. Quintessentially Marlborough, but a deliciously subtle, ripe interpretation of the classic style.

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - James Halliday Wine Companion:
"There is a layer of thorny prickle, a nettle herb that is utterly intoxicating in this wine. It unravels what you know of sauvignon blanc, making it a star-studded wine in my books. White pineapple, pomelo and daikon radish. Thai basil and mangosteen flesh. Linear and refreshing, this is crunchy and lively from start to finish. 13%. Screwcap."

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2025 Sauvignon Blanc leads with a soft nose of musk sticks and brine, green apple skins, wet linen and green olive tapenade. In the mouth, the wine is tightly coiled and yet textured by pithy phenolics. The length of the flavor is long, as we have come to expect from Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc. This is a superb wine in any vintage. Greywacke is a member of the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW). 13% alcohol."

94 Points - Cam Douglas MS, camdouglasms.com:
"Ripe and fruity, core varietal scents of cape gooseberry and fresh basil, pineapple and mango, grapefruit and citrus peel. A wine with a deep core of minerality as well suggesting a silty soil and stony earthy suggestions. Taut and dry, an electric acid line with a natural fruit sweetness quality delivering contrast and flavour. As the wine warms on the palate the flavours expand with some lime and orange melon, dried herb and stone. An excellent example with best drinking from day of purchase through 2031. 94 Points. Excellent"

93 Points - James Suckling:
"A flavorful, focused and textural sauvignon blanc with papayas, limes and stones on the nose. Medium-bodied with bright acidity. Lively and succulent, with a precise palate and a long finish."

92 Points - Wine Spectator:
"Offers juicy, fleshy peach and pineapple flavors on a sleek and mouthwatering frame, with notes of lemon sage and lemon verbena, plus whiffs of candied ginger, matcha and jasmine. Gains intensity and expands further on the finish. Drink now through 2035." -MaryAnn Worobiec (Sep 2026)
