About the Winery:
Jules Taylor has been making NZ wines for over two dozen years: in 2001, Jules Taylor Wines emerged as a little moonlighting project with a mere 200 cases. After leaving her corporate winemaking job five years, two children and many, many late nights later, Jules and her husband George Elworthy took the nail-biting decision to put everything on the line, jack in their day jobs, and give their dream a shot. Jules Taylor Wines have been earning high praise ever since.

Creating honest, tasty, fruit-packed Marlborough wines is what Jules does best. Today, Jules makes her harvesting decisions in the vineyard, purely by taste rather than by laboratory analyses. Jules will only release a wine if she is entirely satisfied it has met her standards. She only makes one batch of each wine every harvest. So, enjoy it while you can. Once it’s gone, it’s well and truly gone.

About this Wine:
Pinot Noir is the rising star of Marlborough and the variety that most expresses the differences from season to season. Grown on the southern hills in clay soils, this Pinot is well rounded with oh-so juicy flavours of cherry and black Doris plum. The wild fermentation along with extended lees maturation have added complexity and texture to the dark fruits and the finish is dry with a nice touch of dark chocolate and spice.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Wine Spectator:
"This boasts chocolate-covered black cherry flavors that are juicy and plump, with clipped herb, fresh earth and oolong tea notes on a velvety frame. Drink now. 3,500 cases made, 1,800 cases imported." – MW (May 2022)

89 Points - Vinous Media:
"Ripe red berries meet oak-derived mocha notes in the 2020 Pinot Noir (Marlborough), which is round and juicy, with plenty of supple fruit to get your mouth around. The fresh finish brings well-handled tannins that coat the palate, providing a sense of structure and sinew. This oak in this young example is a tad prominent and a little drying, but overall, the wine offers plenty of substance and stuffing for the price." – Rebecca Gibb MW (Apr 2022)
