Tasting Note:

  • Color: cherry, violet rim
  • Nose: fruity expression, red fruit, spicy.
  • Mouth: tasty, fruity, good acidity, long, long

Blend:
80% Grenache, 10% Carignan, 10% Syrah.
Bush vines of 10 to 25 years old.

Vintage and Climate:
The climate year of 2022 will be remembered as very warm and dry, with temperatures above the average of recent years from May and throughout the summer. The lack of rainfall is also notable. Although the grateful storms in July helped stop the heat stroke, the lack of water became evident. Despite these conditions, the vines showed a firm resistance to water stress, and marked drought only in the basal leaves of the most suffered vineyards, but kept the fruit in perfect condition. With maturity but also with acidity! A year to verify how resilient the Priorat vineyard is!

Elaboration and Ageing:
Grapes are hand-harvested. Rigorous second and third hand-selection at the winery sorting table. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation of gently destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks.
Ageing of 4 to 6 months in a combination of concrete tank (25%), large oak vats (25%) and used French oak barrels (50%).

Alcohol: 14,5%

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"Deep violet in the glass, this wine has a bouquet of purple plum, mocha and clove. Pleasant acidity and silky tannins back up flavors of black and red berries, licorice, eucalyptus and sage leaf. The lengthy finish is marked with a note of butterscotch." - Mike DeSimone (Jul 2024)

92+ Points - Wine Advocate:
"The young and juicy red 2021 Les Crestes made me think of a wine from the Rhône, with black berry fruit, spice, earth, smoked bacon and violet aromas. The palate is velvety, medium to full-bodied and has fine, round tannins. Very drinkable and pleasant. 60,000 bottles were filled in June 2022." - Luis Gutierrez (Sep 2022)

90 Points - Decanter Magazine:
"The nose is a little muted, with a hint of redcurrant to the darker plum and blackcurrant notes and pencil-shaving. The palate shows off the Garnacha led blend being a very fresh style of wine, clearly aiming for drinkability and elegance." - Panel Tasting (Nov 2022)
