About this Wine:
Vines over 35 years old and harvested by hand. Careful selection of fruit from the vineyards. Destemmed and macerated at low temperature. Separation of the must by gravity. Controlled fermentation at low temperature and rest on fine lees up till 8 months.
Winemaker Notes:
Limpid, green-tinged yellow. Mineral-accented aromas of fresh honeydew, tangerine and white flowers, with a floral quality in the background. Fleshy and seamless on the palate, offering energetic orchard and citrus fruit flavors and a refreshingly bitter suggestion of quinine. Shows excellent clarity and mineral cut on the long, incisive finish, with the floral and melon notes echoing emphatically.
Food Pairing:
Thai food, pasta with creamy sauces (Carbornara), grilled blue fish and resistant European aftertaste cheeses, such as Cruiller, Edam or Touza Vella.
93 Points - Tim Atkin, MW:
"Etiqueta Ambar uses grapes from vineyards that are over 40 years' old, mostly in Cambados and Meazo in the Salnes Valley on sand and granite soils. Almost Riesling like in termsof structure and acidity (Diego Rios worked in the Mosel Valley) this is stony and intense, with layers of lime cordial, green apple and lemon zest and impressive extract. 2024-29."
92 Points - James Suckling:
"A fresh and pure Rias Baixas that has notes of lemons, grapefruit and peaches on the nose. It's medium-bodied and saline with a refreshing finish. Vegan. Drink now."
17/20 Points - Jancis Robinson:
Delicate and pretty, going from fennel flowers to lemon verbena to lemongrass to lemon sherbet. Gentle but surprisingly deep plashy pools of acidity. Orange citrus and tamarind at the core, that over 10 days softened to buttery saffron. Like all the really good, complex Albariños, it has high-frequency intensity
