About the Château:
The wine is crafted in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, which covers vineyards throughout the Bordeaux area and follows stricter production standards than the broader Bordeaux AOC. Wines from this designation are required to reach higher minimum alcohol levels and undergo longer maturation before release, resulting in greater structure and depth while maintaining the classic balance and elegance for which Bordeaux is known.

Château Chauvet is produced from a classic Bordeaux blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, combining structure with supple fruit. After harvest, the grapes undergo traditional fermentation to preserve aromatic purity and varietal expression. The wine is then matured to allow the tannins to soften and the flavors to integrate, resulting in a balanced and approachable Bordeaux with depth, smooth texture, and refined structure.

The vineyards benefiting this cuvée are located across the Bordeaux region, where vines thrive in the temperate maritime climate influenced by the nearby Atlantic Ocean. Soils throughout the area are typically composed of gravel, clay, and limestone, providing excellent drainage while retaining sufficient moisture to sustain the vines during warm summer months. These diverse soil types contribute to the balance of structure, freshness, and ripe fruit character that define Bordeaux Supérieur wines.

Tasting Notes:
A brilliant wine of deep red color, with a wide range of red and black fruit aromas on the palate. Velvety and ripe, but above all that pivots on its expression of fruit. The palate is incredibly pure, with bouquets of violets and black fruits, giving a beautiful roundness and intensity on the finish.

Blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points - James Suckling:
"Blackberries, plums and some vanilla and coffee on the nose. This is nicely defined on the palate, showing juicy and fine-grained tannins and a nice, creamy finish. Good length here. An overachiever for Bordeaux Superieur. Merlot, malbec and cabernet sauvignon. Drink or hold." (Mar 2022)
