About the Winery:
Owned by Vignobles Bernaleau, Chateau Mongravey perfectly illustrates the excellence of the terroirs of Margaux.
From a small vineyard of 2 hectares inherited in 1981, Régis Bernaleau acquires many parcels of vines in the town of Arsac thus constituting today a property of 12 hectares.
This mosaic of exceptional terroirs gives this vineyard all its typicity. Years of rigorous work, regularly praised by the international press, allowed Chateau Mongravey to become Cru Bourgeois Supérieur in 2020 starting from vintage 2018.
Château Mongravey produces a complex, rich, and elegant wine where Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend with balance and harmony.
Today, Régis, Jérôme, and Karin Bernaleau continue the adventure as a family, two generations putting their skills at the service of the magnificent terroirs of the prestigious Margaux appellation.
Ratings & Reviews
92 Points - James Suckling:
"Aromas of plum, fresh cherry, blueberry, praline and cedar. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Cool and elegant. Very fine. Try from 2024." (Jan 2021)
94 Points - Wine Enthusiast:
"A richly structured wine bursting with black fruits, this is rich in tannins and wood-aging flavors. This latest release from the estate in western Margaux is still very young but has great promise. The dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon gives the black-currant fruit and the tannins for aging. Drink this wine from 2024." - Roger Voss (Apr 2021)
