Contratto was founded in 1867 in Canelli, the heart of a prestigious wine producing area. The company always had a reputation as one of Italy's premier Brut sparkling wine producers.

According to Antonio Galloni, "One of Italy's most historic houses, Contratto was exporting sparkling wines to England and other countries back in the 1920s. After a long period of near obscurity, Contratto has been revitalized by new ownership headed by Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta. Rivetti has a huge passion for Champagne," making it a natural fit.

The first Contratto Vermouth recipes date back to the 1890s, and like many Italian vermouths of the era, they were consumed only locally. In the 1920s, Contratto extended its production and modified its formulations for the modern (and thirsty) export market. A marked success, Contratto Vermouth di Torino was one of the “in” drinks of the 1930s, escalating the winery’s annual production to 100,000 bottles. But after tastes for vermouth dwindled, Contratto shuttered its aperitivi and digestivi production, beginning in the late sixties and spanning to the late aughts. Today, Contratto is at last producing and exporting their classic fortified wines and spirits again!

Contrattino is a single‑serve 200 ml, 5.5% ABV – perfectly aligned with low‑ and moderate‑alcohol trends. It is ready to drink straight from the bottle or over ice; no cocktail skills required.

Contrattino catches the eye with a dashing Italian art deco design and a red-bitter blush. Qualitatively, an impeccably balanced formulation of components (bitter/herbaceous, citrus, and floral) and a lively, persistent effervescence come neatly wrapped in an organic certification. Boasting historical precedent (Contratto produced a “tonic aperitivo digestive”—the original RTD!—in the 1930s), these charming single-serve cocktails nevertheless usher in a new wave of Italian aperitivi culture.
