About the Winery:
Domaine du Clos des Poulettes is a family-run, non-negociant estate that farms 16 hectares in the Côte de Nuits.

With a few name changes – some more modest than others – here is a domaine of around 16 hectares that flies under the radar despite producing occasionally excellent wine. What was once Domaine du Poulette is now Domaine du Clos des Poulettes.

Hélène Michaut is the 7th generation of the family here, having taken on the responsibility for the domaine almost by accident – an unhappy accident – her sister was running the domaine but lost her life to illness in 2009. Hélène, who had a career in IT, and despite living in Paris, decided to take on the role.

Hélène’s father was the first at the domaine to plant some whites, her grandfather only had reds.

About this Wine:
Made from 100% Chardonnay, fermented mostly in stainless steel with 10–15% neutral oak in foudres and aged 6–8 months with bâtonnage; from a vineyard in Corgoloin just south of Nuits‑Saint‑Georges; sustainable. Elegant, medium-bodied palate with excellent fine tannins, chalky minerality and discrete red-apple and crisp-pear fruit married to forthright freshness; long, focused finish.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - James Suckling (2023):
"An elegant white Cotes de Nuits with excellent fine tannins and a chalky minerality on the medium-bodied palate. Discrete red apples and crisp pear fruit are married to a forthright freshness that makes this hard to resist. Long, focused finish. From a vineyard in Corgoloin just south of Nuits-Saint-Georges. Sustainable. Drink or hold." (Jun 2024)
