About the Winery:
The Frescobaldi family began producing wine in Tuscany in 1308, and for centuries has been synonymous with wine production in Italy’s most celebrated wine region. Despite an almost constant search it was not, however, until 2014 that the family acquired a Chianti Classico estate. The estate had to be magnificent, and when you visit Tenuta Perano, you understand immediately why the family finally moved forward. Perano has a long history in Chianti Classico and is situated in the original Chianti Classico zone designated by Duke Cosimo III de’ Medici in 1716. The estate was acquired by the Frescobaldi family in 2014.

Ratings & Reviews
96 Points - James Suckling:
"A modern Gallo Nero with aromas of vanilla, strawberry ice cream, butter, red cherries and flowers. Super tense on the palate, with a chewy, tight-knit structure, zesty acidity and refined, velvety tannins. Tense yet polished finish." (Mar 2025)
94 Points - Vinous Media:
"The 2021 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Rialzi exudes concentration, richness and power. Dark-toned fruit, new leather, chocolate, incense and espresso wrap around the palate. There's a bit more sweetness and richness than in the Riserva, and yet the character of this Gaiole site still comes through nicely." – Antonio Galloni (Jul 2025)
93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Packed with cherry, blackberry and orange peel flavors augmented by tar, iron and wild herb accents. Dense yet lively, with oak spice elements emerging on the lingering aftertaste. Best from 2028 through 2043. 1,667 cases made, 80 cases imported." - Bruce Sanderson (Oct 2025)
