About the Winery:
The Rivetti family story begins in the 1890s, when Giovanni Rivetti, left Piedmont for Argentina. Like many Italians then, he dreamed of returning a rich man, perhaps even one day able to make great wine in his homeland. He never did, though his son, Giuseppe “Pin” did.
In 1985 La Spinetta made its first red wine, and acclaim soon followed as owner / winemaker Giorgio Rivetti's magic touch with Nebbiolo took the world by storm. He produces approachable yet age-worthy wines that capture the attention of wine critics and consumers year in and year out with their opulence, concentration, aromatics and length. Whatever Giorgio touches turns to gold as his Barbarescos and Barolos are the Ne Plus Ultra of their category, as confirmed by Wine Spectator Magazine and Wine Advocate.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
The 2021 Barolo Garretti displays a medium red color, and the nose opens to a spicy and warming aromas of cedar, ripe cherries, dried herbs, and leather. The palate offers a compact, refreshing, angular structure, bright acidity, and a mineral-inflected finish. It’s tightly coiled and is going to benefit from another few years in the bottle if stored in cool cellars. Drink 2027-2040. (Drink between 2027-2040)
