The Wine

Sourced from the Kamptal in Lower Austria — the cradle of Austria's signature grape — the Singing Grüner Veltliner ripens on granite, gneiss, mica-slate and loess soils, where cool air streams off the rugged Waldviertel create a wide day-to-night temperature swing that slows ripening and keeps the wines fresh and fruity. A very attractive fruit bouquet yields apple, peach and citrus aromas along with a typical Veltliner spiciness and a touch of white pepper; the soft, juicy palate is carried by fine acidity. It sings on the palate! The 2024 growing season brought a mild, wet start and unusually early budding, followed by damaging mid-April frosts that cut yields by up to 60% on affected vines; a wet, laborious flowering in late May/June gave way to a hot, dry July and August that accelerated ripening, with harvest beginning September 20th and wrapping within three weeks. Fermented cool in stainless steel, the finished wine is 100% Grüner Veltliner at 12.5% alcohol, with 5.0 g/l acidity and 1.3 g/l residual sugar (dry).
