About the Winery:
Miner is a dynamic family-owned winery tucked along the eastern hills of the Oakville appellation in the heart of Napa Valley. Founded in 1998 by Dave and Emily Miner, Miner Family Winery crafts reserve-style wines by sourcing fruit from Napa Valley and other specially selected California vineyards.
Our winemaking team uses a combination of old world winemaking techniques and modern technology to make wines that reflect the unique characteristics of individual vineyards or “terroir” where specific varietals grow best. This fusion of superb vineyard sites and thoughtful winemaking allows Miner to deliver elegant, expressive wines.
About the Wine:
Miner Family's 2021 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon blends 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Cabernet Franc. This limited-production Napa Valley red combines dark fruit, savory detail and a substantial tannin structure.
Vineyards: The fruit comes from Bonny's, Crossroads and Vyborny vineyards within Oakville, Napa Valley. The blend draws together these three sites rather than representing a single vineyard.
Winemaking: Harvest ran from September 16 through October 8, 2021, with grapes picked at 25.1–27.2 Brix. The wine aged for 21 months in French oak, 55% new, and was bottled July 21, 2023. Production totaled 454 cases, released in fall 2024.
Tasting Profile & Food Pairings: Black fruit is layered with dried herbs, mocha and cedar. Plush yet supportive tannins give the palate richness and shape. The producer recommends aged sirloin or roast rack of lamb.
Technical Details: 750 mL; Oakville, Napa Valley, California; 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc; 14.1% alcohol; pH 3.65.
Ratings & Reviews
93 Points – James Suckling:
“This sophisticated, firm-textured and full-bodied wine is destined to keep improving with age. Beautiful oak spices like cinnamon, toast and spearmint meet full-fledged black cherry, blackcurrant and cocoa flavors on a velvety, supportive bed of tannins. Best from 2028.” – Jim Gordon (Mar 2024)
92 Points - The Wine Palate:
"The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, notes of fresh blackberries, boysenberry preserves, and cassis jump from the glass, followed by hints of bay leaves and pencil shavings. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers tightly knit blackberry flavors with a firm grainy texture and bold freshness, finishing with a minty lift." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Aug 2025)
